Traditional Subjective Injury Screening

For the past 30 years, athletes, trainers, coaches, and physical therapists have relied on visual assessment and video capture for injury analysis. Traditionally, athletes perform a series of exercises while standing in front of a clinician who visually assesses the athlete’s movement patterns at 25 frames per second. Video Capture can supplement the assessment. While this method can be helpful in analyzing fundamental movement patterns to show athletes what they are doing right and wrong, it’s extremely limited in scope and effectiveness due to the subjective nature of the assessment.

Sports injuries happen inside the body, but visual assessment and video capture only show therapists what’s taking place outside the body. Relying on visual analysis alone can only do so much to understand the musculoskeletal movements taking place on a deeper level. At the same time, this approach relies on a subjective human interpretation of the movements, so athletes, trainers, and coaches have little to go on other than the physical therapist’s word and—hopefully—expertise. Two therapists can assess the same athlete and generate two completely different reports. This is because the process fails to generate objective data, so preventing and treating injuries can become a bit of a guessing game.

This subjective approach often leaves athletes susceptible to reinjury. In fact, 20% of individuals who sustain an ACL injury will reinjure it within two years. We know because we’ve seen it firsthand. If you want to learn more, read Sophie’s story here.

Our Objective Injury Screening

At EliteX 360, we provide an objective approach to help you understand your movements. We use 3D wearable sensors that convert your movements into actionable data at 200 frames per second, ten times that of traditional methods. These sensors record biomechanical data in real-time, providing objective metrics faster and more accurately than the conventional approach. Unlike video capture, we detect muscle activation and movements that happen beneath the surface as it happens. Our system then runs the data through sophisticated algorithms. We have worked with leading physical therapists and sports science PhD’s to design these algorithms so that they can then create an actionable report you can easily understand. Our goal is to make sure you leave every screening session with a deeper understanding of the way you move and a concrete plan to reduce your risk of injury while optimizing performance.

Our Unique Approach

When we talk to athletes, we often learn that either they are doing nothing to reduce their injury risk or they depend on a subjective approach. While doing something to lower your injury risk is good, we must be greater than good. EliteX 360 was born out of the need to reduce the rate of injuries that occur for preventable reasons. In order to accomplish this goal, we’ve partnered with the brightest minds in the movement science industry to combine the latest technology, software, and research.

EliteX 360 has created a mobile, fully-scalable, clinical screening solution for teams of all sizes, at all levels. We’ve taken a process that traditionally took days, sometimes even weeks to complete, and streamlined it so that we can screen your entire organization in a matter of hours. Our process still provides the same in-depth, objective analytics and the customized, actionable reporting along with physical therapy consultations that elite, professional athletes use, but in a fraction of the time.
